What to expect?

A typical workday lasts 8 hours but that varies according to personal stamina. I’ve worked with apprentices who love to crank it out from dawn to dusk and others who don’t have the physical strength to pull an 8hr day in a field. Don’t sweat it. It’s ok to balance field work with independent study time. We’re not trying to squeeze the life out of people, we are trying to provide a rich and rewarding experience for you.  We want you to go home feeling healthy, expert and convinced about your future in sustainable communities. Sunday is a day of rest. Besides the farm chore routine, apprentices occasionally lend a helping hand around New Vrindaban Community. Farming is our focus but there’s also ample downtime for socializing and enjoying New Vrindaban’s May through August festival season. Keep in mind that farming can be very repetitive and includes tasks such as heavy lifting, repetitive grasping, standing, bending, and walking from one end of a growing zone to another. Breakfast and lunch are prepared by New Vrindaban’s own cooking crew. Dinner is freestyle, meaning that apprentices who work late often eat at the community snack bar or cook for themselves.
